SCS cares about our students, our staff and our families. We are committed to providing 

up-to-date information and communication to our stakeholders. Please know that we 

are working with the Sumter County Health Department, in conjunction with the Georgia 

Department of Public Health and the Georgia Department of Education, on developing 

issues related to influenza-related illness in Sumter County and surrounding counties. 

Utilizing guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), SCS 

has initiated the initial phase of our action plan to prevent the spread of influenza-related

 illness in our community.   Initial information will be sent home on Friday, August 14, 2009. 

Updated information will be provided when applicable on Wednesdays in each school's 

weekly communications folder/agenda.
