2021 National School Bus Safety Week: October 18-22, 2021 Held during the third full week of October each year, National School Bus Safety Week is an active and evolving public education program and an excellent way for parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operators, school administrators, and other interested parties - to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. Designed to promote school bus safety, Tracy Monts, Director of Transportation for Sumter County Schools and her staff observe School Bus Safety Week.

Sumter County Schools Announce Exemplary Students for the Second 9 weeks For the 2020-2021 school year, Dr. Torrance Choates, Superintendent wanted to have a district wide quarterly recognition of outstanding students in grades Kindergarten - 12th. The criteria Dr. Choates set was for the student to be exemplary, have all As, excellent attendance and behavior. The second 9 weeks “Exemplary Students” and his/her parents were invited to attend the April Board of Education meeting. The students received a sign that they will proudly display in their yards. Congratulations to these students!
