AMERICUS-SUMTER MIDDLE SCHOOL PANTHERS MOVE TO 3-0!
The Americus-Sumter Middle Panthers moved to 3-0 on the season with 27-0 victory over a scrappy Dooly County football team. On the opening drive, Americus-Sumter went the length of the field finishing the drive on a touchdown pass from Emory McKenzie to Adam King. The Panthers attempted the extra point but it was blocked by Dooly County. The ensuing kickoff set the stage for the Panthers defense as they recorded their first shut out of the season. The Panther defense gave the offense good field possession all game long. Under pressure from Panther Defensive End Kenneth Baker Robinson lead to an interception by Daron Tyson, his second interception of the year. With the Panthers in good field position McKenzie dialed up King again and threw a perfect pass to King for the second touchdown for the Panthers. The touchdown put the Panthers up 12-0 and gave Mekall Yancie an opportunity to show his throwing ability as he threw a pass to a wide open Juwon Milledge for a 2 point conversion that put the Panthers up by a score of 14-0 at the half. In the second half Devin Stern and David Ladmirault led a defense that held Dooly to 2 first downs in the second half. On the Panthers first drive on the second half Mekall Yancie took the handoff on a counter play and rushed 52 yards to the Dooly one yard line.McKenzie finished the drive with a QB sneak for the TD. Donald McCook added the extra point and pushed the lead to 21-0. Late in the 4th quarter, Mekall Yancie threw to DeAndre Hawkins for a touchdown and the last score of the game making the final 27-0 ASMS Panthers over Dooly County. The Panthers return to action next Wednesday as the travel to Fitzgerald to play Ben Hill Middle @ 5:00pm in a rematch of the Championship game from last year.
